I sure do miss this guy!

Way back in November of 1984, I had the privilege to vote in my very 1st presidential election. I really did not know much about politics, or pay attention to what was happening in the world. At that time, I was more interested in myself than the fate of our country. But, I liked this guy and what he stood for, so he got my vote!
As I have gotten older ( and hopefully wiser) I pay closer attention to what is happening in our government. The country we live in today is very different that it was 24 years ago. I pray that somehow we can get back on track. We need leadership that will inspire us, that is honest and based on what our founding fathers intended America to be. So, here is my little tribute to a great man... I sure do miss him!

"Here's my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose."
- Ronald Reagan

"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
-Ronald Reagan

"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so." - Ronald Reagan

"Of the four wars in my lifetime none came about because the U.S. was too strong." - Ronald Reagan

"I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandment's would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress." - Ronald Reagan

"The taxpayer: That's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination." - Ronald Reagan

"The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program." - Ronald Reagan

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." - Ronald Reagan

"Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book." - Ronald Reagan

"No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. - Ronald Reagan

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan

Oh, Kelly, what a wonderful and timely tribute! Don't you just love those common sense sayings!? We sang a song last Sunday at church, based on the Emerson poem: "God, Give Us Good Men".

You sure struck a nerve in my heart tonight! Yes, I sure do miss this guy, too!

Thanks, Kelly!

This post brings back some really good memories and feelings of safety, patriotism, and pride in our nation. He was a good man. It almost makes me cry to think how far we've come.

Those were some great quotes you posted. I too remember being a fresh voter - full of optimism and SO proud of my "I voted" sticker!

Thanks for the great tribute. May God have mercy on our nation and bring back some good ole'American pride - where right makes might!

Love,
Beth

Kelly,
What a great post and what great memories. I just loved Ronald Reagan as well. I remember when he was shot when I was 12. I remember admiring him very much but not really knowing why. Now I understand and miss him and men of his caliber terribly. There are SO FEW men in Washington anywhere near the character of this man.

Thanks for the memories! And may God have mercy on our nation.

Love,
Molly
