Know You in the Now

I have been blessed by the ministry of Michael Card for many years. He is a singer, song writer, musician, author, teacher and Bible scholar. I was listening to one of his CD's the other day and these two songs really express how I have been feeling lately. It reminded me that we must be careful that our faith is not an idol we create. Our faith can not be about going through the motions of religion, it must be about the personal relationship we  have with our Heavenly Father in this time and place. Here are the powerful lyrics to Know You in the Now, the first song on this video. The lyrics to the second song Could It Be can be found here.

Know You in the Now

Echo of history
A light so many strain to see
The One we talk so much about
But rarely ever live it out

Could You tell me why

Was it for this You came and died
A once a week observance
When we coldly mouth Your words

Lord I long to see

Your presence in reality
But I don't know how

Let me know You in the now

 We should confess
We lose You in our busyness
We've made You in our image
So our faith's idolatry

Lord, deliver me
Break my heart so I can see
All the ways You dwell in us
That You're alive in me

Lord I long to see

Your presence in reality
But I don't know how
Let me know You in the now

I also really appreciate Michael Card and enjoyed listening to his radio program occasionally. Not sure if he still does that? Great lyrics.
