Pinterest and Reclaiming Beauty

I recently set up a Pinterest account. It sure is fun to "pin" lovely things on my "boards". I have been so inspired by the creative ideas and how easily these ideas can be shared. But after several weeks of looking around, I have noticed something that worries me. Many young ladies are pinning dream homes, wedding ideas, lovely clothes and party ideas. But some of the "pins" are surprising such as fashion, makeup and movies that I hope they are not really considering watching or wearing. I am not sure that they really understand that what they are "pinning" is telling a story about who they are.

The following verses come to mind...

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him" ~1 John 2:15 ~

"likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

~1 Timothy 2:9 ~

Ladies, please be careful what you are looking at. Do not feed an appreciation for styles and trends that you can not wear or movies with characters that are of the "world". Make sure your goal is to desire the things that are pleasing to the Lord.

I would like to suggest that you consider purchasing the Reclaiming Beauty webinar. The Botkin sisters have done an excellent job defining true beauty with great tools and tips to figure out your personal style without compromising to the "worlds" standard. You can preview the first session for free!

I've found pinterest is great for discovering new crafts and recipes - but I've noticed the same tendency to pin worldly things.

Some of the dream home stuff strikes me as worldly, too. What happened to being content with what we have?

Pinterest is interesting to me. Sometimes it makes me sad to see desires that can never be met;longing for things that are temporary, things of this world. I stopped looking at the womens fashion because it caused me to stumble. Thanks for the information on Reclaiming Beauty :)
